Maharashtra state govt has approved the expansion of Aurangabad & Gondia airport.
It allocated Rs 578 crore for infra improvement & land acquisition. The expansion will enable increased tourist footfall and the operation of international charters.
Along with the construction of a parallel taxiway, existing runway at Aurangabad will be extended to 3,660 meters. This expansion will enable international charter operations at the airport.
At Gondia, a state highway will be diverted for runway expansion. Rs 15 crore has been sanctioned for acquiring 15 hectares of land & diversion of highway.
