The first vertical garden installed by Aurangabad Municipal Corporation opposite of Siddharth Garden has been now restored by the AMC.
Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) launched the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) to prepare clean air action plans with an objective to reduce PM 2.5 pollution by 20–30% by 2024 as compared to 2017, in 122 cities (NCAP, 2019).
As per ‘Atmospheric Environment: X 8 (2020) 100096’ report NCAP designated 122 cities (including Aurangabad) as non-attainment from 21 states and 2 union territories (including Chandigarh and Delhi) based on the ambient monitoring data from the network operated by CPCB. Maharashtra has the most cities (18) followed by Uttar Pradesh (15). NCAP in its first round of activities aims to increase the capacity of CPCB and State Pollution Control Board (SPCB)’s to measure, evaluate and manage air pollution.
The cost of this vertical garden at the time of installation, dated on 08-11-2021, was Rs. 7, 96,748.
